BIG HIT! Carey Price SP Authentic Patch Auto!!

Category: Uncategorized — Dan @ 4:00 pm

As you’ve seen in previous posts, it seems that good cards come in 3’s also. Mitch pulled these 3 beauties all in on day, and he made out with the bandit himself, Burt Reynolds, and a SP Authentic Carey Price Rookie Autographed Patch /100.  It doesn’t get much better than that!

Category: Uncategorized — Dan @ 3:32 pm

Yousaf hit this card out of a pack of 2007-08 Topps Co-Signers Basketball today, and I would have to believe it’s the best non-auto printing plate in the set, except maybe Kevin Durant. Nice pull!!

GAMETIME announces New Monthly Giveaway!

Category: Uncategorized — Dan @ 5:23 pm

Gametime Sportscards will hold its first Monthly Giveaway/Trade Day on May 25th, 2008.  The day will feature a 15% off sale for all merchandise, and we encourage collectors to bring in cards just in case there are others interested in trading.

Giveaway Details:

We will take one pack of all new products released during the month (only products we carry), keep them off to the side, and on May 25th, we will raffle them off. This monthly giveaway encourages you guys to open up your cards in the store.  We would love to be able to feature more Box Breaks and Big Hits stories on the website, and we want you to be  as excited about collecting as we are.  So customers will receive 1 ticket for every jersey card they pull, and 2 tickets for every autograph. Only if you open them in the store, you cant take them home and bring back the cards.  In addition, customers will receive 5 tickets for every box they buy, and on the day of the drawing, there will be a ticket waiting for every $20 you’ve spent in the month prior, which is only available to BSC Club members.

If you don’t want to carry around raffle tickets all month long, we understand.  We will hold your half of the ticket in a envelope with your name on it all month. You can come in, grab your envelope, and see if you’re the winner.  However, YOU MUST BE PRESENT to win the prize, we will not check the tickets for you.  And no tickets will be given away on trade day, you must get them before.  If no one claims the prize on May 25th, the prizes rollover to the next month, and trust us, more will be added.

There are already 7 packs put to the side, including Tri-Star Signature Cuts Football, Upper Deck Draft Edition Football, and Bowman Elevation Basketball.  We anticipate the drawing on May 25th will also include packs of 2007-08 Ultimate Collection Hockey, Tri-Star Signature Cuts Baseball, 2008 SPX Baseball, 2008 Press Pass SE Football, and many others.  No 1 pack boxes will be included.

Here’s a shot of what’s already put to the side:

Box Break- 2008 Upper Deck Draft Edition Football!

Category: Uncategorized — Dan @ 12:17 pm

10 cards per pack: 16 packs per box

BSC Price

$7.00 per pack

$105.00 per box

2008 Upper Deck Draft Edition Football is a very exciting product. Not only because we pulled what we think was a great box, but because Upper Deck provides you with five rookie autographs per box, all of whom have the potential to be great.  It’s a great chase.

Out of our box, we completed 60% of the set (151 of 250).  We nearly completed all of the rookies (1-100), and received many less of the veterans (101-200) and combination cards (201-250).  Here’s the highligts of our box:

5 Autographs: 10 Brian Brohm (97/125), 49 J Leman, 20 D.J. Hall, 93 Tashard Choice, 14 Davone Bess

2 Numbered Cards: 40 Glenn Dorsey (17/25), and 232 Chad Henne/Mario Manningham (14/25)

Box Break- 2008 Finest Baseball!!

Category: Uncategorized — Dan @ 4:10 pm

 BSC Price

$52.00 per six pack mini box

$140 per box (three mini boxes)

We busted a box of 2008 Finest Baseball, and although we didn’t pull any huge cards, we were pretty impressed with the product.  It seems to provide collectors with big bang for your buck, where even if you don’t pull great autographs, you can make up for some losses with the myriad of refractor cards they provide.  We have also seen a few of these opened around the shop, and have seen autographs already of Clay Buchholz and Jose Reyes.

2008 Finest Baseball consists of three six pack mini boxes, featuring 5 cards per pack.  Each mini box contains one autograph and multiple refractors.  Here’s what we pulled from a full box.

We completed 32% of the base set, 2 rookie autographs, 1 autographed rookie refractor and inserts are as follows.

Rookie Signed Refractor: 155 Steve Pearce

Rookie Signed: 154 Chris Seddon, 163 Daric Barton

6 Refractors: including 84 Hideki Matsui

2 Blue Refractors: 89 Troy Glaus, 139 Seth Smith

1 Green Refractor 1 Black Refractor 1 Gold Refractor

10 Finest Moments: including 2 Refractors and One Green Refractor

7 Team Favorites: including One Refractor

2008 Finest Rookie Redemption: 8

Hawaii Trade Conference-Chase Field!

Category: Uncategorized — Dan @ 9:24 pm

Gametime was invited to a reception at Chase Field, and we made sure we did the FL justice.  We crushed appetizers, drinks, and opposing retailers dreams as our names went across the jumbotron.  Topps and Upper Deck also debuted their new TV commercials in what I have to say was an absolute top notch MLB field.  Just kidding other retailers!

Hawaii Trade Conference-Keynote Speakers

Category: Uncategorized — Dan @ 9:16 pm

Brandon Steiner (top), owner of Steiner Sports, was highly motivational to say the least during his talk at the HTC.  He told his story of being his own thinker, his own motivator, and his own critic, and reminded us all that we are capable of more.  Sports has always been a great energizer for Gametime, and he used them well.  Other keynote speakers included Todd McFarlane and Jay Johnstone(bottom).  They both could be stand up comedians, and their success speaks for itself.

Hawaii Trade Conference- Party Time!!

Category: Uncategorized — Dan @ 9:04 pm

Upper Deck hosted an invite only party the opening night of the Hawaii Trade Conference-Phoenix Edition.  Every guest got a chance to spin UD’s wheel of fortune to win prizes and the oppurtunity to meet 2008 NFL Draft Ready Cornerback, Antoine Cason.  Topps hosted a similar party at Don & Charlie’s Steakhouse in the AZ.  Upper Deck went on the next day to hold their annual HTC Gold Tournament at Ocotillo Golf Club.  Gametime won several boxes of cards over these two days, including UD Spectrum, Topps Moments & Milestones, and Topps Finest.
